The Office of Parent and Family Programs

The Office of Parent and Family Programs is your one-stop-shop for all questions while your student is at Auburn. As a department in Student Affairs, Parent and Family Programs is the one office on campus designed specifically to help you.

Mission

To partner with Auburn University parents and family members to inform, support, and engage them to assist their student’s overall success.

Meet the Staff

Tess Gibson joined the Office of Parent and Family Programs as Coordinator in May 2014. A two-time alumna from Auburn University, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in Public Administration, and then completed her Masters in Administration of Higher Education. Prior to her time working with Parent and Family Programs, she worked in the First Year Experience Office, working primarily with First Year Seminars, and as a graduate assistant in Student Leadership Programs.

Under her leadership, the Office of Parent and Family Programs at Auburn has won several awards including:

  • 2016 Excellence in Publication Recipient for a Handbook or Calendar by the Association of Higher Education Parent and Family Program Professionals.
  • 2017 Outstanding Parent and Family Relations Institutional Initiative Award for the Navigate Webinar Series by NASPA | Student Affairs Professionals in Higher Education.
  • 2017-2018 Outstanding Division Collaboration Award for the First Year Experience partnership to host the Navigate Webinar Series.

 

Tess is a leader in the field of Student Affairs. She received the 2017 Rising Star Award through Alabama NASPA, naming her new professional of the year. Tess was recognized as Outstanding New Professional at the Association of Higher Education Parent and Family Program Professionals annual conference. In May of 2018, she received the Spirit of Excellence Employee of the Year award for Auburn University in the Professional and Administrative category.
