Fall Family Weekend

Fall Family Weekend

All Auburn Family members are invited to campus for a weekend of activities, programs, and the chance to watch the Tigers play in Jordan Hare Stadium.  Each year, Fall Family Weekend is aligned with the Homecoming football game, so you get to experience campus life while enjoying some beloved traditions like the homecoming parade, pep rally, and tailgating. Last year, over 3,500 family members visited and enjoyed the Parent & Family Association Tailgate, making it the largest tailgate on the plains!

Save the Date: September 13-15, 2024

Get a head start on your Family Weekend planning by saving the date and securing your accommodations in advance.

Tailgate Registration

Many events are open to all, but the Auburn University Parent & Family Association annual Fall Family Weekend tailgate is a ticketed event.

Registration for the Fall Family Weekend tailgate opens on July 31 and will close on September 6.   Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for kids and students (K-12, college).

This is a fun event with an opportunity to meet other Auburn families while you enjoy a traditional southern barbeque meal, dance with a local favorite, DJ Ozz, and take a photo with our beloved mascot, Aubie.

Menu for the event includes:

  • BBQ chicken, pork, or tofu
  • macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, watermelon, chips, cookies,
  • canned soda and bottled water

Also provided at the tailgate are clear stadium bags, shakers, buttons, and toilet paper while supplies last.

Check In for Fall Family Weekend occurs on Friday from 2-5 p.m. at the Sportsplex or Saturday during the event at Cater Lawn.

Homecoming Activities

Fall Family Weekend is a part of Homecoming, so there is a comprehensive site with information about the weekend here. Note that event planning is still underway. More information will be added closer to the weekend.

Gameday

On gamedays, our lovely village triples in size with alumni and fans traveling in from across the country. If you haven’t attended an SEC gameday before, be prepared for a festival-like atmosphere with lots of people, lots of walking, and lots of fun.

Football Tickets

Auburn Athletics offered a block of tickets to families attending Fall Family Weekend. These tickets are now sold out.  However, there are still seats available for the game on Seet Geek.

Hotel Accommodations

There are many great options for places to stay when visiting your Auburn student. Auburn-Opelika Tourism provides a comprehensive list of hotels and accommodations.
Sometimes, like commencement weekend, it can be hard to find a hotel in Auburn. There are several nearby communities you might consider when looking for a place to stay.
Here are some ideas:
• Lake Martin, Alabama
• LaGrange, Georgia
• Columbus, Georgia
• Lake Harding, Alabama/Georgia
Also, Auburn is considered a vacation destination for many people, so there are a number of homes and condos available through Airbnb, VRBO, and other short-term rental sites.

Places to Eat

There are some fantastic restaurants to enjoy when you visit Auburn. In addition to downtown Auburn, there are some great places in Opelika and the surrounding area. Auburn-Opelika Tourism provides a Best Bites list of independent restaurateurs that you should review. If you want more options, they also provide a comprehensive list of restaurants in the area.

Flying In?

Auburn is conveniently located just 90 minutes from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), so most students use it as their airport hub. If your student does fly into Atlanta, don’t forget to account for the one-hour time difference between Auburn (CT) and the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ET) when booking travel arrangements.  Other airport options include Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM), Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM), and the Columbus, GA Airport (CSG).
